FAM Prayers

Sincere faith and confidence that God will answer our prayers for the restoration of our marriages, releases one of the most powerful and effective weapons of spiritual warfare at our disposal. It was our own precious Lord and Savior who told us that if we ask for ANYTHING in prayer, and BELIEVE we will get it, we WILL get it. In Matthew 21:22 Jesus said “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Then again in Mark 11:24, we see “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” And James 4:2 even tells us that we do not have because we do not ask. Sadly, a lot of Christians lose out on so much that God has promised just because they don’t ask Him for it, or if they do ask, they don’t really believe they’ll receive it, ignoring James 1:6-8, which says But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does. Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV) actually tells us to approach God with boldness and confidence, expecting and believing that He will answer our prayers, saying Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

In Philippians 4:6, we’re instructed to take everything to the Lord in prayer, saying Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. The Lord is telling us not to worry about anything, and to just ask Him for everything we want or need, and then to give Him thanks for it in advance. This is especially important when it comes to the marriage relationship, because we all tend to direct our complaints, and even justified concerns, about our spouses to them, when we should be taking those petitions to the Lord instead. There is nothing we can do to make our spouses change, but God absolutely can and will IF we take it all to HIM in prayer and BELIEVE that He will answer our prayers.

We see the prayerful attitude God expects from us in Romans 12:12, which says Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. We should be joyful in hope because we fully expect, with genuine anticipation, that the Lord WILL answer our prayers. Being patient in affliction means waiting patiently in our time of trouble for the Lord to deliver us, because we know it’s just a matter of time until He does. And being faithful in prayer means not giving up on our prayers, and continuing to ask the Lord for what we want or need, no matter how impossible or hopeless the situation may appear, and no matter how long it takes.

Hebrews 11:1 reveals God’s definition of faith, where Paul tells us Now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen. And that’s the attitude we know God expects us to have about everything we pray for, based on what Hebrews 11:6 tells us, which is And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him. Then, Colossians 4:2 even takes it further by saying Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. So, once we’ve devoted ourselves to praying for the restoration of our marriages, we should demonstrate our faith by watching for evidence that it is coming to pass, and by giving thanks for it even before it does.

To sum it all up, the Bible tells us to boldly and confidently take all of our concerns, needs and desires to the Lord in prayer. Then we have to believe and expect our prayers to be answered, and look for the evidence that they are and give Him thanks for it even before there’s ANY reason to believe it. James 5:16 (NKJV)assures us that The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. And God gives us this awesome promise in Jeremiah 33:3 (NKJV) where He says “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”

We certainly don’t want to miss any of God’s blessings by failing to go to Him in prayer, and we don’t believe that lasting marriage restoration is possible without the awesome power of faithful (faith filled) prayer, which is why a section of the FAM Fellowship website is dedicated to sharing our prayer needs, so we can stand in agreement with each other for the restoration of our marriages and any other issues we deal with along the way.
